Indian white Elephant

Since immemorial times, the elephant has been a highly respected animal in India, for the great help that has always lent it to the human being. This respect has been reflected, for example, in one of the most well-known and worshiped gods of Hinduism, Ganesha or Ganesh, who has elephant head. But within this admiration to the elephants, the specimens with white skin, as the one represented in this ceramic figure, have an even more special position. This is because it is said that Maya, Buddha's mother, became pregnant with an albino elephant after having dreamed that this was introduced in his matrix.

As we can see this sympathetic ceramic elephant is dressed in the traditional Hindu way. This ceramic figure has been created by hand with great care, taking care of the last detail. To give him a last touch to the piece, the artisans have added a few gold details, a decoration that has become a business card of the De Rosa brand.
